Frito Chili Pie
Brown 1 pound Hamburger

2 Cans Chili with Beans

Bow Tie Pasta
Cook: Bow Tie pasta according to package
Melt and place in a large dish:
1 Tbs Butter
1 diced Onion
1 minced Garlic clove

New England Boiled Dinner
4 Lbs Corned Beef
6 Carrots quartered
2 diced Turnips
8 small chopped Onions
6 quartered Potatoes
1 head of Cabbage wedged
Cover meat with cold water, bring to boil. Simmer for 4 hours, remove from heat. Add to stock carrots, turnips, and onions. Cook for 15 mins.
Add potatoes and cook 15 mins. Add cabbage cook for another 20 mins.
Add meat cut into pieces, heat and serve.

1 sliced Onion
2 Tbs Worchester Sauce
1 Tbs Brown Sugar

Substitute Ingredients
Most of grandma's recipes call for shortening or butter. For most of the cake recipes and some of the cookie recipes, you can use applesauce in place of the shortening and butter. Also for a gluten free recipe use rice flour instead of all purpose white flour. And if you want more wheat in your diet use wheat flour.
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
Mix:
2 C Sugar
¼ C Shortening
4 Eggs
1 C sour Milk
4 ½ C Flour
2 tsp. Baking Soda
1 pkg. Chocolate Chips or 2 C
¼ tsp. Vanilla
Mix well
Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375* for 12 min.

1 C sour Milk

Add:
1 level tablespoon of mix to 1 teacup of hot water. Stir to dissolve. Makes 5 cups of mix or 80 teacups of Wassail.

HOT CHOCOLATE MIX
16 oz Coffee Mate or Dry Cream
14 oz Powdered Instant Milk
16 oz Hershey Quick Chocolate Mix
14 oz Powered Sugar
Stir all together. Store in air tight container.
To use stir in 4 Tbs of mixture into hot milk or water. Can add marshmallows.
(makes 2 Gallon of dry mix)

TRADERS PUNCH
Combine all ingredients in a punch bowl.
16 oz can frozen Lemonade
16 oz can frozen Orange Juice
2/3 C Pomegranate Syrup
Mix in 5 C cold Water

10-12 C Flour
Knead all ingredients. Cut in half and stretch length wise. Place on sprayed cookie sheet. Let rise then bake for 375* for 20 mins. Makes 2 loaves.

Brown 2 pounds Stew Meat
Add:
2 Chopped Onions
4 Grated and chopped Carrots
2 Chopped Peppers
3 Stalks of Chopped Celery
3 Peeled and cubed Potatoes
2 Cans Stewed Tomatoes
1 small can Mushrooms or 2 fresh chopped Mushrooms
1 Tbs. Tapioca
1 Tbs. Sugar
3 Cloves Garlic Minced
Parsley
1 1/2 tsp. Butcher Bouquet Sauce
1 tsp. Basil
1 tsp. Worcester Sauce
Dash of Ketchup
Cook for 6-8 hours

GRANDMA'S RECIPE BOX
This website was designed to collect old country recipes that are passed down from generation to generation. Our mother had several recipes that need to get out of the "RECIPE BOX" and into the hands of people who cook. Mom never spent a lot of time in the kitchen, however we also never starved. Mom could whip up a good meal using nothing but the basics. Like her daughters we don't consider the kitchen our favorite place in the house.
